The two major holidays that come up during the beginning of the school have almost come and gone.  While one holiday has us dressing up to get candy, the other has us giving thanks for possibly the Halloween we still have, as well as things that are more important.  I am thankful that I have a wonderful husband, three awesome boys, and my health and well-being.  Now if I can get work!

Two of the three boys went in the same costume as last year, making it easy to buy costumes this year.  Only Kirk needed a costume this year.  The boys went as a knight (Cinco), a dragon (Jango), and a frog (Kirk).  They went trick-or-treating this year with their aunt Carissa, cousin Lena, uncle Daniel, Daniel’s fiance Laura, and Laura’s son Jaiden.  I even dressed up this year as Lara Croft.  They went down the street and down a few courts and came back home with tons of candy.  We still have some leftover candy to go through.  Three bags for three boys.

For Thanksgiving, the same people will be there as was for Halloween except for one substitution:  switch out Jaiden for uncle Nick.  Carissa will be cooking the turkey this year, and since I have been cooking as of late, I plan to contribute something to the meal as well.  My mother will be with my sister and her boyfriend and my brother in San Jose with Sara’s boyfriend’s family.  That seems so foreign to me, but she will be with family, which is consistent with this holiday.  Cinco made some turkeys at school, but I’m sure that he gets the holiday.  We all watched the Peanuts Thanksgiving special, but I don’t know how much he knows.

What I do know is that I am thankful for my health, my family, and the fact I get to eat every day, sleep in a bed, and have clothes on my back.  I am thankful that I have a family that supports me in what I do, and I am thankful I have the opportunity to go visit my dad if I need to.  I am thankful for what I have, and grateful for wha I have.  I am thankful for the armed forces who secure my freedom day in and day out, and, to a lesser extent, I am thankful for my cat.  I am thankful for many things that I cannot think of right now.  I believe this holiday is about being with family and being thankful you got each other.  I am thankful for that every day.  Lots of love to the Flores family as well as many families around the world.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you had a Happy Halloween!
